Meet The Team

Sarah Phipps

Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder

I grew up on a fourth generation family farm in Idaho and graduated from Carroll College, earning baccalaureate degrees in nursing and spanish. I met my husband while we were students at Carroll College and we were married a month after graduation. I later graduated from Regis University with a masters in healthcare administration. After a successful decade-long healthcare career, I felt called to step away and focus on our family. I currently serve on the state-wide boards for Montana Catholic Conference and Catholic Social Services of Montana. In 2021, I achieved a lifetime goal: creating my professional photography business, Novella Lens Photography, and I am honored to provide a majority of the images for The Mustard Seed Press. I am an avid tea drinker, reading enthusiast, and mediocre gardener. I love spending time adventuring throughout Montana, the greater Rocky Mountains, and the Pacific Northwest with my family. I treasure my Catholic faith, building authentic community, and calling Helena, MT home with my husband, three children, a Greater Swiss/Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, and an ever-increasing number of chickens.

Caitlyn Van Horssen

Chief Design Officer, Co-Founder

I grew up in a small town in North Dakota and graduated from the University of Mary with a bachelors in nursing. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in various hospital and clinical settings for 8 years. Since entering into the wider community and parish life, I’ve led bible studies and have offered mentorship opportunities for women, college students, and high school students. I have served as the youth ministry coordinator at my Catholic parish for 4 years—helping to grow faith formation, discipleship groups, and fellowship opportunities for youth and families. My primary and most cherished roles are wife to Chris and mother to my two daughters. I love a bold cup of tea or coffee, a good book, recreating in the quiet and scenic Montana outdoors, and hosting from our home in the mountains.

I grew up in Helena, MT. and graduated from the University of Montana with degrees in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. I married right after graduating, and welcomed my first daughter a year later. While I enjoyed my work as a metallurgic chemist, I’ve enjoyed motherhood much more! Since then, my husband and I have welcomed three more children. I now stay with them at our home in Jefferson City, MT, and have started to try my hand at homeschooling the oldest two. Both the days and the years feel short to me, as they are filled with happy exploring in nature, joyful learning (not least my own!), and enjoyment of our many friends and family members. One of my favorite hobbies is making my children laugh: in fact, my two year old often calls me a “funny duck.” In my increasingly small free time, you can find me with a book in one hand and a baby in the other, with a cup of something lukewarm nearby.
